    Default Terrified of...

    Hi all
Sometimes I keep getting mild lengthy to 2 second sharp pains in the bottom right of my stomach. It's not always right, sometimes left. And the thing I am most terrified of is appendicitis. I hate the thought of having it, and I'm not sure if I have it or not. I can't find out how common it is either. What are the chances of me having it? Has anyone had it before and what does it feel like? This is the thing I am most scared of and can't stand thinking about having it (I know it may sound wierd, but.. idk lol)

Any help is appreciated, +rep for all help

Defo not appendicitus, if it were that then you'd be pretty damn sick. My mum had her appendix out following an op, and the first signs we had of her having it was her clinging onto her right side & chucking up in a bucket. Not nice. I'd get it checked anyway, but it could be something a little less severe. You know, one of those stress-induced illnesses?

My friend had her appendix out and she had sharp pains, so you should get it checked out.

Abdominal pains can be a syptom of appendicitis, but also you can lose your appetite, vomit, and occasionaly change in bowel actions (etc. constapation, diarrhea), it takes from 4 to 48 hours for syptoms to occur. So having one of those syptoms is still likely to end you up with the infection, or not, it depends.

    Have it checked out

Thanks for all of your help. The pain is not as bad today, and I was not sick. I will get it checked out though. +rep

    Hey,
My Dad also has a similar pain like this, and it always comes along whenever he eats certain foods.
White bread, white pasta and white rice all bring it on. However brown bread, brown pasta and brown rice is all ok.

Thinking it is something to do with the amount of wheat which he eats. This may be a similar problem with you.
Try to keep a mental note (or a diary) of what you are eating and what you have eaten when you get the pain. This is what your doctor will advise you to do.

    Good luck, keep us updated.

When I was about 9-10 I used to get real sharp pains in my stomach like I had been stabbed. It seemed to occur everytime I had a Fizzy Drink but that could of just been coincidence but I left it for about 3 weeks and they stopped. If it was to happen to me again I would go straight the doctors as I do now with anything I'm weary about, book yourself an appointment, best think you can do if your in doubt.

I very much doubt it is appendicitis. When I had appendicitis the pain was pretty much constant. It's nothing to be worried about, anyway. It's not like you need your appendix.
