Default So worried about my GCSE's?!

Well yeah, Im in year 10 atm and had my first GCSE last thursday I do foundation maths and science, english I do the higher paper. Well yeah I thought I knew all of I think it was handling data the topic (Im doing AQA papers btw) and there were two questions one on the first paper which was worth allot of marks because it led to other questions and I did not have a clue. On the second was this weird pie chart I may have got 2 marks out of like 5. Overall I think i've missed out like 8-13 marks out of the two papers put together and that is so worrying because that wont get me a C in this paper which I need. I know its only worth like 18-20 percent this paper but I really don't want to have to retake it. The others are worth around 50 percent and 30 percent so I need to do well in them but apparantly there really hard even If I am doing foundation. The fact is I want to go to sixth form with no retakes so if I get about 70 percent will that get me a C I got 60 something percent in my mocks for handling data and I was only 8 marks from a C and got an E .

    lol don't be.

They barely mean anything anyway. They only get you into college. I got an E in some of my science modules, retook them and got a C overall.

I need to get in to sixth form/collage because I want to go to university. If I don't get these it can slow that process down?

    and sixth form lol

tbh i'd rather get good GCSEs, A, B grades and go to sixth form, rather than get B, C grades and still get into sixth form.

idk if anyone else thinks like that, maybe its only me because i want to do as well as i can in anything really

what I mean is that once you get into college, GCSE's are practically worthless. They are over exaggurated by teachers at secondary schools. Besides, alot of colleges give you leway and let you retake GCSE's in your first year at college/ sixth form whatever you wanna call it and take A levels the next year. (or on top of your GCSE retakes in the first year)

Your doing foundation Maths and science, the highest grade you can get is a C and to get that you need a high 80% or above

Also don't listen to GCSEs dont count for anything, the Unis are looking at them now becuase the As and A level are so high

That is biggest pile of bull**** ive ever heard. Once u get into college they are practically worthless.......

Dude, have u even taken ur gcse's?

GCSE's are the one of the main things Universities look at when u apply. It is the only complete course of education that you will complete before applying, as you would have only completed half the a-level module when u apply. If your GCSE's are not too good, and you're applying to a Uni with a solid and strong reputation, they will not even consider you.

    Get your facts rite

Yes, I have finished my GCSE's. They're not the main thing they look out for. The main thing they look for is course relevant A levels. Unis only let you in if you get the grades at A level, they make offers judging AS levels and predicted grades.

    OMG you know hardly anything

I've submitted my Ucas already this year. The Uni's have no idea what my AS level grades were as i left them as pending.

Yes they look at your predicted grades, but they are more interested in what courses you have fully completed, i.e. your GCSE's.

    And relevent A levels. LOL
They only look at that if ur planning on studying medicine, denistry, that sort of stuff.

If u want to go to study Business Management, Computer science, philosophy, etc. you dont need to have studied a particular area at Alevel.

If you don't believe me, feel free to pick up a Uni prospectus, or even visit a Uni's website and look at entry requirements for certain courses.
