Default Darling cuts VAT in pre-Budget

Chancellor Alistair Darling has cut VAT from 17.5% to 15% in his pre-Budget report as part of an £20bn package aimed at kickstarting the UK economy.

And duties on alcohol, tobacco and petrol will rise so the price remains at their current level. - OMG NOOOOOOOO! :@

Don't bother go out this week thinking you will find any "great deals" because you want see any to next monday - Thats when the VAT goes to 15% also retailers might not even pass on the cut to the customers so it's best not to get too hyped up about it yet.

retailers HAVE to pass the cut on from VAT but they could increase their price.

It just means companys have to spend thousands on producing new catalogues, update website etc.

Yep since VAT has changed every price will change.

Also for rich people (can't remember if its 120k or 150k income yearly) income tax is going up from 40% to 45%

I'm sure you'd bother if you were giving £450,000 of your £1,000,000 salary to the government
