Odd problem

My main PC downstairs now takes seemingly forever to load, when I press the power button it turns on at the initial load up screen and runs the disc drive at max like usual, then it doesn't do anything for 5 or so minutes. That happend like once before but never again, any ideas of what it is?

If the problem only happend once does it really matter?

Sometimes during startup windows checks removable storage devices for problems (checkdisk thing) which takes about 5 mins

Ah thatsmy bad for not explaning properly.

It only happend once before, now it always happens.

Check that all your fans are still running properly (Unlikely that they could cause such long wait unless they've completely stopped but worth a shot)

Also open up BIOS and check the boot order, make sure the hard drive with your OS on it is set first (again, unlikely that is could cause such a long wait but worth a look )
