Quick question about Collectibles

I recently started Habbo again (kind of, more like Habbox Forum ), after a break for a few months which explains my lack of recent knowledge .

Has the "Collectibles" section of the catalogue replaced the "Rares" section or is it just a temporary change?

Collectibles has replaced the "Rares" section in the Catalogue.
Some Hotels still sell some rares, but Collectibles is the new thing, the first 6 Collectibles have the theme "Around the World", but what the theme will be after that is still unknown...

Collectibles are on sale for 31 days, costing 25 Credits and will never be on sale again.

in august or september (can't remember which) all three of the first collectibles were released into the museum of invention catalogue.

Collectibles are limited edition, through 6 months, 6 different Around the World items will be released, so December marks the 6th one. It's believed after the collectibles have been released, Habbo will bring the Rares page back. So 2009 we would most likely see the Rares return.
