    Default Paypal Q! (+14rep)

    Hiya.

I am buying an iphone as many people know lol, and I have found someone on Gumtree who is willing to sell me a brand new 16gb 3g one for £250.

He said he is happy for me to pay through paypal.

This is a really good deal - but I am wondering if it is perhaps a bit too good to be true and I don't wanna be sending him £250 and get scammed!

If I paid him and he tried to pull any sort of scam, would I still be fully protected under paypal and could get it back???

He gave me a pic, but tbh he could have easily went on ebay or google images and got it lol

Just a bit apprehensive... so what do you think?

It should be OK to be honest. If he scams you, report it to Gumtree and PayPal and you'll definately get your £250 back.

If they don't live too far from you ask him if he can meet up with you and exchange it by hand and pay via cash.

But if he does scam you can always do a cashback

Yeah i think that is probably the best solution. Your covered on up to £350 eBay but on most websites i don't think your covered. Check if you are before you buy and ask for more pictures.

Paypal transactions aren't completed for two weeks, so if he doesn't give it you before then, then just contact Paypal saying so.

and out of all these things i've done
i think i love you better now

If you send Paypal an email regarding the situation and still have the transactions the money will be taken out of his account and give him -250 instead of 250 untill the situation is resolved

Well I asked him to meet and he first f allsaid he couldn't come to Glasgow as he works 7 days. I then said I wouldn't really be comfortable unless he would be willing to meet.

He said he would and it's my choice he will accept payment cash in hand or by paypal. So he is being flexible, but I don't understand why he would sell a brand new 16gb 3g for £250 when they are like £400 on ebay.

I asked for another pic and he said he doesn't have any.

He's gave me his mobile number though to text him if I have any more q's.

So you think I'll be safe enough if its all done through paypal then?

Ask for a photo and make him add a piece of paper in it saying 'HELLO OSTINATO', if he refuses to do that then I'd say 'No deal'
