    Default Overpaid £460 by Halifax

    Today, I made a measly deposit of £4.60 so I could repay PayPal for charges.
    I return home and login to my Halifax Account, and find £460...

    Now legally I have to give them the £455.40 which they are owed, or there will be legal problems

    Can't believe it though.

    Halifax is one of the worst banks. - HSBC, or Barclays are better

    Lloyds = BEST
    + Write to them asking them to withdraw the money they overpaid.

    Legally it's their money, so it's wrong of me to take it.
    I'll just call them or something.. they'll end up asking for it or withdrawing it at some point anyway.

    Just tell them, i'm sure they'd be happy to know. They might give you a (very small) reward for reporting it aswell, but don't get your hopes up.
    eek.

    Its stupid because if you pay in too much or something then you have trouble getting it back because they say something like ''we thought it was next months payment'' and you end up not getting it back so you should be able to keep, but it dont work like that

    I got paid a cheque from Putney, I reported it and they had no trace of it. It was £187.30 and I have since kept it. It was paid in like June, so they have had their chance. I was on their backs for about 5 weeks about it and they left it.
