    Default External Drive...?

    Hey,

I guess this is suited here since I am using a mac and the drive is connecting to a mac.

Anyway, just went out and purchased a WD Elements 1TB drive from Curry's and its a lovely drive but I can't seem to get it working correctly.

In disk utility it shows the drive and then the volumes:

    • Time Machine (the one I just created)
    • disk2s2 (Unmounted and wont mount when I try)

Now, I have tried repairing/verifying the drive but it fails when it gets to the second volume. Ill update this post with links to screenshots in a moment.

Any ideas/solutions - when I try to format the entire drive I also get an error.

EDIT: Seems to only do this when I try to format into "Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)" - Seems to work fine when formatted into "MS-DOS (FAT)"

    EDIT TWO:

Fixed it Thanks to this review on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2U2DHA...cm_cr_rdp_perm

Turns out it is due to the partion map being "Master Boot Record" rather than "Apple Partition Map"
