Do you have sound drivers?
Have you installed the MP3 fix?Ex-janitor. Might pop in from time to time, otherwise you can grab all my information from http://jamesy.me.uk/

Have you tried another player? like VLC?

Yeah VLC is usually good for me and this benifited me to http://www.moviecodec.com/downloads/20d.html
