    Default Only left speaker working?

Well, any sound thats played only comes through my left speaker. Ive looked at the balance and everything is fine, checked the right speaker and it works perfectly.

Does it with anything, WMP, youtube etc... all do the same thing.

Is it a problem with my sound card?

Maybe you didn't connect things properly or there's something wrong with your sound card.

Are you sure the settings are right? That's the most obvious answer.

Sometimes it will be better to reinstall sound card driver and check cables.

or do the most effective troubleshooting method and try them in a different computer/try a different set of speakers which will let you determine whether its the speakers or the sound card/software.

Done that, one last thing. I don't know what idiot wired this PC but somehow it has 2 sound cards.

I think one is on board sound, and the other is in an expansion slot so it must be a different one. However the sound only works on the on board sound, and only the left speaker. When plugged into the other green socket no music plays at all.

Have you got one of them RealTek sound manager things? Sound might only be assigned to the left speaker, to find out if you've got it unplug the speakers then plug it back in, it should pop up.
That's why we seize the moment, try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and hold it cause we consider these minutes golden.

    Don't have that.

Good news is it's working again opened up the case again, cleaned around afew bits and noticed one wire kept getting jammed into a fan, turns out it was the right speaker cable so I had to plug it back in and move around the wires.
