I need urgent help

I have recieved this email today from [email protected] this is very worrying has the person who hacked must have my email address. The email reads

From: www.habbohotel.co.uk

Dear discountguy,

o=Our databases show that you recently made a large trade of many rares to a habbo on www.habbohotel.co.uk. in order for us to give you the name of the robber we will need your compliance. We know it was not you tradeing because of our ip address log.

If you were only tradeing a friend then please delete this message. or...

change your habbohotel password to:

fr1end

in order for us to know you need the furni back. If your password is changed to fr1end then we shall ban the scammer and offer you all of their furni on their account for you.

I know this is not from habbo dues to 3 or more mistakes and they never tell you to change your password. This email address needs to be reported

If Sulake have a major security risk and need to contact you they will ONLY use [email protected] (example)

Delete the email. I know it is most likely that they do not know your password due to database encryption, but if they see a problem that you found then they would have changed the password for you and sent you a verification email.

This is 100% rubbish. They will always use a Sulake related address.

EDIT: Did you actually lose a large bulk of rares recently?

yes i was hacked 3 days ago, so this person has my email address, i thoguht it was really strange they they new about the rares gone missing

this means they have realised i changed my password and they have also realised i have got rid of any keylogger so there next attempt to get my furni is by sending out an email

p.s this is email needs to be reported how did they get the extension @habbohotel.co.uk

They got it because you can sometimes pay for your own email, whatever you want it to be i.e [email protected], this is how they made it.

That is not how this was done, that is a "spoofed" email and was sent, Im guessing from the windows based appication MSDOS. A spoofed email is where someone has sent you an email in this case from [email protected] but it is really being sent from dos, the person that sends it then adds his regular email address eg [email protected] into the dos info and if the person who gets the email replies it goes straight to the sender's proper email address.

I am currently working on a program that detects spoofed email's There are some out at the minute but they tend to "bomb" any spoofed email which sparks off a little "war" between the two. The best thing to do is send the header info of the email along with your description of what happened to habbo hotel or to sulake using one of the contacts provided on the site. If you use hotmail then go to your options and it will tell you how to get the header info.
