I really don't know, it's a bit of an Open question.

I use the Firefox 3 web browser, Windows Live Messenger 9 combined with Messenger Plus Live plug-in, and iTunes for music.

Some other stuff I use:

Microsoft Office Suite
SAM2 Broadcaster for Shoutcast DJing
Skype for calls, similar to WLM
Picasa 3 - Syncing and organising photos, recommended.
uTorrent - Torrent downloader of choice
Teamplayer - Use multiple cursors, mice and keyboards with one computer
Paint.net - Free alternative to Paint with some photoshop features
Foxit Reader - Alternative .pdf software to Adobe Reader
Camtasia Studio - Good to record the screen and creating videos
ImgBurn - Easily rip and burn .ISOs

That's it, you don't need any other programs than that unless you program.
