    Default New computer.

Hey, my dad got me a new computer.
He told me the specs were 2gb and 2.8ghz dual core but meh he was lying lol. Anyway Im just going to upgrade it myself.
Here are my specs are stuff, btw the processor is far better than the last one I had, I think the last one broke.
    I have roughly about £160.
What would you recommend I update first?

I know they are kinda' weak but I was thinking of going for RAM and then processor.
I'd personally like a decent dual core rather than quad. Quad's are way to expensive at the moment anyway (for me) and Im going to wait until Christmas to get a full out pc.
It's far better than my old pc, my old pc had a 2.8Ghz Dual but this one can actually play HD and renders videos faster.

I don't think so as long as the 2 2GB sticks were in dual channel.

Alright, Scott showed me some about 3-4 days back that was £40.
I have £120, anyone care to recommend a decent dual processor
Also, where do I find what type of motherboard I have.
I need to see if the ram and processor are compatible.
    I was thinking of this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Athlon-6...4180979&sr=8-1
Is that only compatable with 64 bit systems.
I dont want a quad core, I'll not use it.

You have an intel Dual core processor so your mobo is Intel not AMD so you can't get that AMD processor.

In the first post you tell us nothing about gfx etc, only your 32 bit os, 1gb ram and processor

what gfx card you got? what hdd? what psu? etc

use CPU Z to see your mobo type.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/152177 processor in your price range

You have an intel processor, thus meaning you have an intel socket board. I beleive the processor you have uses a socket 775 so I would recommend this:

You can easily get 4GB RAM and a decent dual core CPU with your money. What motherboard do you have? Is it a computer brand such as HP or Compaq or one from a local computer shop/custom build?
