Borrowed Mass Effect off my friend, just cant get into it seems so confusing completed the Eden Prime mission but it seems really confusing did anyone else seem like this?

It is confusing but it gets inconfusing after a while, like you do random missions you know 0% whats going on about and the story starts to unfold.

I've had it months and only played it a few times.

I really enjoyed that game, it did take some getting used to though. Keep playing for a couple more hours and you'll get into it.
