Laptop problems

Hey, im using my brothers laptop at the moment because,

When i try to connect to the internet, it connects but it says 'Local Only' or 'Limited Connection' when it has connected, i can't access the internet of IM anymore, any help?

By that, I guess you are using Vista.

Have you tried right clicking the Networking button and clicking "Diagnose and Repair"?

Failing that, have you tried rebooting, or turning the wi-fi on and off?
