Why do games that get developed in the uk (and probably other countries) get released in foreign countries first?
First one to my mind is littlebigplanet, created in the UK, released in the USA first? If you look on wikipedia you will probably find loads.

Annoys me really.

I think its either due to

A) the company wants a bigger cashpile
B) the distribution company is american

Well movie wise we got 17 again 7 days before america (american)
We got boat that rocked a good 4 month before america (english)

i think its because, even if the game is developed over here most of the main distributors of games operate in the US. therefore releases happen there before coming to europe but dont hold me to that, it's just a wild guess...
