    Default OpenID authentication?

    Hey,

I think it'd be brilliant if Jin or someone could integrate this forum with OpenID providers like Chi.mp and MyVidoop etc.

    http://openid.net/what/ for more information.

If you use openID, all openID providers would work

Will this just let you use your ID to log in?

How hard or easy is it for someone to get hold of the neccessary details to gain your ID passsord? The first thing that jumps out at me is that Habbox might not like having a situation where accounts can be intruded upon by people gaining outisde passwords. Correct me, if I'm wrong .

Firstly I want to give my personal view as I rarely get to give it I am deeply against this idea lets face it a lot of internet users are idiots. They without a doubt will end up being tricked by a phisher or something similar at some point the idea of having someone like myvidoop.com handling all your site authentication I don't like. Get hacked at myvidoop.com and all your openid sites are screwed.

At least thats my take on it.

    Now from the Habbox POV.

I am sorry, but HabboxForum really do not need this technology and I really wouldn't bother wasting my time with implementing it when only a handful of members will appreciate it.

Maybe when the popularity of it increases greatly will we consider it but at this stage I am not willing to spend the time on this with my list of tasks looking as it does.

Could you explain to us what it does seeing as you want people to agree on having it added?

Watch the video about it: http://www.openid.co.uk/node/6

It basically explains what it is all about etc. :]

Have to say though the video was extremely entertaining though. I think this concept is a great idea and it would probably work well in a modular business where multiple logins are required to various systems.

But the idea of having this on a global scale to places you really don't wish people to have access to I do not like.

Most people have an Open ID account without realising, the technology is rapidly spreading. Any google account, yahoo account, flickr account, myspace account or AOL account can be used as a Open ID provider meaning that if you have an account with one of them you can use Open ID. Windows live and Twitter is likely to introduce this technology soon as well.

I like how Facebook have integrated it, providing you're logged into a provider account (See above) then it automatically logs you into Facebook once you link the accounts. I'm always logged into my gmail account so it just logins me in Facebook straight away whenever I go on it, it's pretty good.

I don't really see security as an issue, if it was insecure then I'm sure it wouldn't have the likes of Google, Microsoft, IBM, Paypal and Yahoo supporting it.

I'd love to see it implemented and I'd definitely make use of it.
