Computer Virus Help!

Hey guys,

So my brothers computer got a virus. The symptoms of this virus include freezing, and black screen sometimes at startup, access to system restore but not usable.

I've booted in Safe Mode and I tried doing a scan with AVG but it froze, I tried using Malware bytes but it doesn't seem to open (must be the virus)

We really don't want to format it so any ideas?

Download Hirens disk, it has an on-board Virus scanner.
After you have backed up the files you should reinstall windows. A computer which has had a virus on it can never be trusted again.

That is if it is definitely a virus of course. It may be that you have damaged the file system. Try using the install disk to fix that, or it may be that sectors of the disk have been damaged in which case SpinRite is your best bet.
