Default What do you define as flirting?

So one of my close friends went off on me last because she was REALLY mad at me because she thought I'd been flirting with her boyfriend yesterday. I definitely am not interested in him at all and I didn't think what I was doing was flirting. We'd run into each other at a party all 3 of u were at last night and had been talking excitedly about Brett Favre joining the Vikings (me and him are HUGE vikings fans). His gf isn't into sports so she didn't really join in the conversation, she was just standing there while he and I talked for like a good half hour, so I could understand why she might have been annoyed he was kind of ignoring her, but it pisses me off that she accused me of flirting with him when all I was doing was talking about sports.

This has happened to me a few times before where another girl has told me to back off of their guy when I'd had no intention of going after them. I'm just a teasing person by nature, but I really don't see the things I say as flirting. Which brings me to my question of what exactly do you define as flirting?

Personally I think its when the girl is openly showing interest, like touching the guys arm unnecessarily, laughing at things that ARENT that funny, etc.

I'd say people use different ways of flirting but it seems this is more jealousy because ye were happy and chatting away about Vikings and she felt out of place and could not really do anything about it.

It depends on body action during normal conversations as well as it can be sending small signals out

to me,flirting is like you go up to someone, have intimate conversation, touching her arm...doing things to get her attention and laugh out alot.
i reckon that your friend is a bit jealous, you gotta talk to her nicely bout this as it could ruin your friendship

idk I get in trouble for "flirting" with the wrong people all the time even when I'm not meaning to. I think it's the attitude rather than the act that should be seen as flirting or not

No but my friends have a go at me for talking to either gender and tell me I'm flirting, so I need my revenge
