    Thumbs down Singed hair :(

Last November, I straightened my hair while it was wet and singed it. My hair is all broken and looks stupid :/

Any ways to help improve it? I've cut it and cut it till I was nearly bald but it just keeps breaking.

    Help me

Get a shampoo/conditioner combo designed for repairing damaged hair. I'd supplement this with hair masks; you can get Aussie reconstructor conditioner in sachets for 99p or a small bottle for £2/3. It says to leave it on for 3 minutes but I'd leave it on for 10 to maximise the effects. If you can be bothered, mayonnaise or heated olive oil are great hair masks, leave either on for 10-15 minutes then rinse it out before you go to bed. B-vitamin supplements are very cheap and promote healthy hair growth too.

Just a tip- rinse your hair with lukewarm (or cold if you can stand it) water. Your hairs' cuticles work like your skin's pores: they open (making your hair look frizzy and dull) under hot water and close (making your hair look sleek and shiny) under cold water.

    ifuseekamy,

So you suggest washing my hair in olive oil, and rinsing it out using (freezing?) cold water?

    Thanks

You heat up a little bit of olive oil in a microwave (make sure it's only warm and you can put your finger in, if it's hot you'll burn your scalp) then apply it to your hair and leave in for about 10-15 minutes before rinsing it out gently. The water doesn't need to be freezing, just lukewarm will suffice. The reason I suggest doing it at night is because obviously your hair will look pretty greasy even after rinsing it out, so if you do it before bed it will help your hair heal itself over night then you can wash it as normal in the morning.

My profession of choice is sadly hairstyling.
If you've cut off all the affected area(s) which you straightened then it sounds like you've got serious mineral and vitamin deficiencies. I'd really recommend you go to your doctor and ask to be referred to a trichologist. This is a specialist in hair and scalp.

If not then I advise you go for a good chop, buy a good intensive hair repair sham&cond from a reputable salon whom can consult you and actually see what problems you have with your hair and what effect(s) you want to achieve with your hair.

I couldn't give you any other advise as I can't actually see nor understand fully what's wrong as I can't see your hair. Can I just remind you - you lose between 80 to 100 hair strands a day.
