Default Running an OS inside an OS?

I'm wondering about running an OS inside an OS (I can't remember the technical name, sorry, I'm a bit thick today ).

What does it involve, is it worth doing, what do I need, will it cost me, and which OS's can this be done with?

And will my laptop (HP dv6-1210sa) do it?

I don't know exactly how, but I know a mac that runs windows inside of it.

You need to load up the original OS, install another one inside it, and click the link within the base OS to get into the secondary OS.

Never argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level, and beat you with experience.

I'm gonna be honest, I still don't properly understand it. Will it cost me?

    And is it worth doing?

I'd like to be able to run XP or Mac OSX from within Vista, if I can.

Idk about OSX but you can certainly run XP from inside vista. Although if you have the time to play around with virtualising it you may as well just install it on a separate partition!

You can run OS X within Windows but only using VMWare and it is slow and buggy and you have to hack it in to make it work.

You can get a free program, www.virtualbox.org, install it, run it and then create a Virtual Machine, you can then install XP from an ISO or an XP install disk, this way the only cost to you is the XP license.
