Never tilt your head back. People seem to think this is the appropriate response, but it isn't. You should tilt your head forward (preferably over a sink) and pinch the bridge of your nose firmly. Then all you can really do is wait. If it carries on for a prolonged period and you start to feel lethargic or faint, you should seek medical attention.

I've seen people put their head back and hold their nose to stop them?
Idk if that's the right thing to do, I've never had a spontaneous one.

i have no idea, i always just assumed people picked their nose and they got a nose bleed lol but mine was runny so i wiped it and saw loads of bloody i was like OH EM GEE.
It's a common misconception that tilting your head back is the correct reaction, in that it makes the blood flow back up your nose and into the nasal canal - bad idea.
Nosebleeds are caused by a disturbance of the thousands of tiny blood vessels in your nose. This can be caused by a nasal injury, picking your nose, recurrent blowing of your nose or where the mucous becomes 'crusty' and can crack. These are common causes, however there are more serious ones.
I get nosebleeds regularly (as a result of my weak blood vessels and low blood platelet count etc) so I know a bit about them :p.

OMG. I don't know what the bigger shock is, the fact Jake was a nosebleed virgin or the fact I've been living a lieNever tilt your head back. This is what I thought. Not to make the blood flow back up, but just to slow it down until it like goes all dry. God I hate that afterwards when it's gone all crusty.
i know lol when i tell my friends i've never had one they're all like WTH
but yeah can't say that any more
you wimpp
i get them quite alot and just hold a bit of tissue against my nose and carry on doing whatever until it stops
