Default [YOUR OPINION]: Large Scale Community Events!

    Hey

I'm writing this after just finishing the Habbox Pantomime for 2009, Snow White & the Seven Dwarves.

We were a little sceptical about putting this on during the current climate of Habbox however we still managed to attract around 100 people. 70 of these were disappointed as we only had 30 seats and the time frame to run the performance once.

The show cost us barely anything moneywise and it was put together in a time limit of just over 7 days.

2 members of staff led the organisation with little imput from General Management.

What I suppose I'm trying to say is that it's clear that Habbox does still have quite a good fanbase, we just need to utilise this to make it bigger.

Whilst we had two full rooms of people queuing, the other rooms owned by me on Habbo were also getting people in randomly. The queue room was still full 20 mins after the panto finished. During this time we had two moderators (iAdam and syko2006) giving things away, getting people to sign up to the forum etc. I know for a fact that three people signed up because of the competitions we were running.

It will be on Youtube later

Although we don't have a Community AGM at the moment, this can still be done.

And I think this is a good example and I was wondering if you think Habbox should do more of this kind of stuff?

    Up to you...

Well if it's getting over 3x the number expected then definitely. I'm not one to get in on them myself really simply because it's not something I was ever that into in the first place, but I know Sam was fab with productions (as were others probably) back in the day and it did flourish for a while and I'm sure it could help get more action round these parts. Not like there's anything to lose anyway and I'm sure those involved had fun with it - you'd be hard pressed to find real reasons why this shouldn't go ahead I imagine.

@above: there were at least 2 threads today about it that I saw lol

Personally, I'm not sure if the amount of effort and distraction of senior staff members for a week or so is worth what Habbox gets in return. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a really nice idea and has been well organised so well done to you for that but I'm not so sure if they're all that beneficial. Maybe a few members signed up, they didn't sign up because they wanted to but for the free furni or whatever and I doubt they'll still be posting come the new year.

As long as key services stay running i have no problem with them. At the moment i think the real issue is simply that habbox is short staffed, were this not the case i doubt anyone would have even noticed if a few staff members were running an event or not.

Like i said before i'm pro gommeinc for community manager :p

does gommeinc even use habbo? i would rather someone like Jess gets it because she is probably always on Habbo, but she doesn't post in the forums so i don't think she is right for it.

give it to garion, heard he is a habbo addict ;l

The forum isn't the whole of Habbox remember. It's just a branch of Habbox.

The people that have been working on this haven't been put out of their way much either.. I mean I checked with Matt earlier and my mod logs over the past week have been more than substantial over the past week even though I've had this extra task, Roxy916 was just fulfilling her community role as Events Manager but we know here you refer to MattGarner, who let me add up, gave hmm, 1 hour thurs, and 5 hours today for this.. omg crime for higher management to put their faces in the public for once...

Wait.. isn't that what people have been saying? Management should be seen in public on Habbo more?

Good point, how about promote Garion to Community manager, then give his old role "Assistant Forum Manager" to gommeinc

As anyone will admit, gommeinc is a major contributor on the forums + in my opinion an excellent candidate for helping to run the forums themselves
