A rule needs to be made on Show Off Your Website Here - Including Habbo Fansites.

Rule: Do not advertise sites which haven't yet been opened.

I am fed up of going on that forum and finding it filled with people posting "Site coming soon!!"
When you click the link, all it is, is a image going SITE OPENING SOON.

Whats the point in allowing people to post that "/ The forum is actually there for reviews. People are filling it with: Go to my site and apply for jobs!! Site opening soon!!

I am sure there is a different section for jobs ...

    I see your point

Let's see what other people have to say.

Its just pointless and a liability

We tackled the jobs one a while back. But I agree, I too dislike advertising maintenance pages.

Though I fear closing and removing threads advertising these pages may make the moderation department seem just that little bit heavy handed.

Make the rule. Most will follow it if you force them to read the new rule thread in that section.

If they don't follow it, I am sure the moderators have enough time to close one thread a day ...
Or hire some more for the section.

I find it frustrating going in that section thinking I will see some good sites. But nope, all I see is maintenance pages. It puts me off the damn section.

An amendment to Matt's sticky mentioning this would be good.

My concern is that it could potentially kill that section by closing every thread that is advertising something in the future - not that we don't have enough moderators.

It was fine before, but now its getting out of control.
Advertise future events of a site which is open or something which is coming in the future as long as the site has some content!

People are taking the piss and advertising maintenance pages.

Maybe change the name of the forum to "Site Reviews".

Perhaps we could add a subforum for advertising/discussing future projects?

Or, I like the site reviews namechange idea.

I agree with this. At least this way we aren't closing topics, just moving them to another section.
