    Default Routers and home networking..

My family are using windows 7 and we all use different computers and laptops.

We have set up the home network and everything but the speed is just utterly slow...

I was wondering if this router speed was slow due to the crappy router by sky net?

I have a netgear which we could use.

Any ideas on how to make our file tranfer faster than it is? Im reaching the speeds of 222KB/seconds

It taking me 30 mins to tranfer a file from one pc to another which is 800mb btw.

    Suggestions?

Weird, I was transferring CentOS install ISO (I think about 4GB) over our network and it took about 10-15 minutes (100 meg network, no gigabit)

Is this over wireless? If it is then I would expect it to be that slow, but wired, then I would try out your other Netgear router.

If its wirless then thats about an average speed in all fairness it all depends on some different factors how fast the HD can store work at however 222kbs is still raither small for harddrive speed to come into play.

i think its more router/internet speed base im guessing your router is only hitting about 54mbps?
