Is Shakespeare over rated? In my opinion, yes. I feel that people look too deeply into his texts and find things that weren't supposed to be there -- they make half the meanings of the text up.

What is your opinions on Shakespeare?

I agree with you 100% at my school when we read Shakespeare we kill the plays by looking so much into it and the symbolism of like every single thing he wrote. I bet half the stuff we learn about it he did by accident lmao

I'm not Shakespeare's biggest fan, but I think I appreciate his work enough to answer this question with a no. I've only had to study a few of his plays over the course of my school days and boring as it was, if we hadn't gone into it in such detail as you suggest, it would have all flown right over my head

Nope, he was a genius. Anybody that disagrees hasn't studied Shakespeare enough OR doesn't appreciate good literature.

Seems to apply to me then. I just find his novels a bore and I'd much rather read some childrens books (call me immature, as you wish).

Maybe in the future if I read a few more bits of his work, I may begin to appreciate it.
