    Default Creating a shared Network

    Hey,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to create a shared network: (I would like to share documents, music and also pictures)
I have 1 desktop running Vista (Not wireless) and I have a laptop running XP (wireless).
    I'm also using a D-Link router.

    Thanks in advance

Should be easy enough to do. Go to "Network & Sharing Center" on Vista (It's called something similar on XP), then adjust the security settings so that "Network discovery" and "File Sharing" and "Public Folder Sharing" and "Media Sharing" is on.

Then, when both computers are on, click Network on the Start Menu and you should see your other computer there, it is then possible to view and manage some folders on the other computer.

I've done all of that on my Desktop PC, my PC is displayed on the network, but not my laptop.

Have to say, I've NEVER needed this to see or be seen on XP/Vista/Windows 7 networks.

It does show up but without it it's very dodgey, some days it would show up and some days it wouldn't. And a couple of XP computers on the network never showed up at all. If networking stuff a lot then its worth the download.
