    so ive got 2 cars now, ones a nail, ones written off............... when i get money in april about 1-2k lookin for a decent diesel run around... anyone recommend any? seen a couple nice mk2 clios so far

    I had a Mk4 1.9 GT TDI PD130, and it was awesome. Economic, fairly quick and dead boosty & tourquey. Then I got a bora with the same engine and half the mileage and insurance is £1100 cheaper.

    If you're looking for cheaper then they do the Mk3 Golf TD which is rather excellent too.

    to be fair my insurance is same on a 1.4 petrol as a 1.9 diesel so i dont think i'd go less than 1.9 in a diesel

    diesels are great and i love them, but i still really want a petrol eventually. better throttle response, sound better, smoother, etc but also less economic.. a few years though

    Actually, my dad had an 04 Focus with the 1.8 115bhp diesel and it was absolutely rapid. Real driver's car.

    Wolf in sheep's clothing it was.

    My dads got a very nice peugeot 307 on diesel. fantastic drive. you can get around 2003-2004 year old car for 2k.
