One-hour episode
Ricky and Bianca wake to discover a pile of dog poo in their hallway, a stunt which Whitney immediately presumes was orchestrated by Kylie. Finally tracking down Kylie, Whitney tells her exactly what she thinks, but leaves with the same concerned feeling as she did when she arrived. Jack, meanwhile, suggests that Billie should join the police but Carol's not convinced. Jealous of Jack's influence on their nephew, Max offers Billie a job at the Car Lot but instead of taking one of their offers, Billie heads out alone to sort his own life out. Locating Kylie, Billie pins her against a wall down an alley and firmly insists that she and the rest of the gang leave his family alone. Having been publicly humiliated, Kylie reluctantly apologises, before insisting that she's thrown the gun away.
Later, with Stacey's help, Lauren manages to convince a grieving Max to throw her a birthday party. Jack offers R&R as the venue with the promise of free drinks aplenty. One by one, the Branning-Jackson clan turn up at the club for the family gathering. With his nearest and dearest in one place, Billie takes the opportunity to make an announcement - he's joining the police. It's not long, though, before the night takes a sinister turn when Kylie wanders out of the toilet with the gun in her hand, before pulling the trigger - April Fool…
Meanwhile, Roxy spots Janine throwing Ryan out of the flat and taken by the sight of his torso, The Vic landlady enlists his help in erecting some shelves at the salon. Danny turns up at the premises to discover Ryan working as the handyman and when Danny tries to mark his territory, Roxy sends him to The Vic for the afternoon - leaving Ryan to flirt with Roxy and vice versa. Later, Janine revels that her plan appears to be coming off when Roxy offers Ryan her sofa for the evening. Is Janine really happy that Ryan's getting so close to Roxy?
Elsewhere, Shirley tells Heather that she can't stay at the house; Heather's downbeat to realise that Shirley will always choose Phil over their friendship; and seeing that Heather's upset, Ben accuses Phil of being selfish.
Part Two
In the wake of the shooting, the crowd clears as Kylie's dragged away by the bouncers. Carol spots that Billie's covered in blood and presumes the worst. However, they realise that the blood's from Whitney's hand - and it's Jack that's bleeding heavily on the floor, having been shot. Jack's transported to hospital with a tearful Chelsea by his side, while everyone else is forced to stay behind by the police to give their statements at the club. Roxy, meanwhile, instructs Danny to deliver the bad news to Ronnie who rushes to the hospital. Carol soon arrives and is put out to discover that Ronnie's beaten her to it but they soon see that they're united in their love for Jack.
Still raw from Bradley's death, Max is catapulted into an emotional state when he hears that Jack's been shot. Lauren and Abi manage to take their father home but he simply curls up on a sofa, worrying about how many more of his family members will leave him. Concerned for her dad, Lauren calls Carol to ask for her help. In the waiting room, Carol tells Billie exactly what she thinks of his recent actions but Billie insists that he had nothing to do with the incident. Whitney backs her boyfriend's claim and when Billie explains that he wishes Kylie had shot him instead of Jack, Carol reacts by agreeing. As Billie realises what his mother has said, he goes to run - until Carol pleads with him to stay with her. What will Billie do?
Meanwhile, Janine decides to capitalise on the shooting incident and sends Ryan to be with Roxy while she's at a low ebb. A guilt-ridden Ryan sits and listens as a sobbing Roxy hugs him, explaining her fears for Amy if her father Jack were to die. Danny spots Janine and soon throws Ryan out, warning him to stay away from his sister. Pushed to the limit, Ryan confesses his love to a stunned Janine who's seemingly unable to say the same.
Elsewhere, Ben runs to be with Shirley and Heather after an argument with his dad Phil; Adam crawls to the cloakroom, having been thrown from his wheelchair in the gun incident; Shirley realises that Ben's worried about losing Phil if Louise were to live with them; and Ben admits that he's still fearful because of what Stella did to him.
