Mephedrone will become an illegal drug later this week, the Home Office said.
Following the completion of the formal parliamentary process, the so-called legal high will be classified as a Class B drug from 16 April.

He was telling the truth because European law says the EU must consider it/give it the go ahead, of which the process usually takes a few months - this has obviously been fast-tracked but the point is, why are the EU dictating British law to the elected British government?

i've watched the scaremongering video - i think maybe he or someone in his party has misunderstood the directive or intentionally misleading the public because it seems that it talks about recognised european standards which i don't think mephadrone comes under. i showed that sweden didn't wait the 'three months'

http://www.dius.gov.uk/Policies/inno...ards-directive is a basic overview of said directive.

if you go into that and search 'health', go to the third result and you'll see why it's allowed.

But that documentry on the drug showed the chinese making a similar but more dangerous drug with different ingredients that gets around our ban So banning this drug was pointless if its so easy for the sellers to carry on as they were just with a different product.

all bans are pointless anyway - people will always find a new 'high' and have done for thousands of years. and banning doesnt prevent their production or use.

Quite right. This just puts even more money in the pockets of the drug gangs.
