    Default Noah's Ark remains 'discovered.'

A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical Christians said they had uncovered remnants of Noah's Ark on its legendary mountain resting place in Turkey.

Noah's Ark Ministries International, a Hong Kong-based documentary outfit, said they recovered wooden specimens from a structure on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey that carbon dating proved the material was 4800 years old, around the same time the ark is said to have been afloat.

"It's not 100 per cent that it is Noah's Ark but we think it is 99.9 per cent that this is it," said Yeung Wing-cheung, a Hong Kong documentary filmmaker.
What do you guys think? I think its pretty god damn cool!

A bunch of evangelical Christians (no bias there then) find some wood that happens to be dated back to the time the ark was supposedly made (as if there wasn't much wood in those days) at the place it supposedly landed.

    Yeah, totally believable

They say they are 99.9% sure, so yes, believable in my eyes.

They say it's 99.9% sure it's real because they want to believe. It's a bit of wood they have managed to date back to the time the ark was supposedly created (depending on your beliefs). Even if I did believe, I would want more solid evidence than the fact they've found some wood. I could find some wood at the area Jesus was supposedly crucified and claim it was his crucifix. The fact it's dated back to the same time is not evidence enough.

Wood gets to places. It could be any number of things. For example a man, his donkey and a cart could have been crossing the mountain or even visiting the mountain and it got destroyed. Who knows? There are plenty of reasonable explanations (one of them an Ark) but nothing definitive to tell you exactly what it is - until they can provide irrefutable evidence to say it was an ark, I fail to see how they can be 99.9% sure it was an ark.

Not necessarily, I believe in God and Jesus, although I am not very religious and I do not think it is Noah's ark...

It's ********. Those idiots have found a piece of timber and are essentially saying; 'there is only a 1% chance that this is wood from any other boat ever made by any man in the history of time' - and that's assuming it is in fact from a boat. How on earth you can look at one little piece of rotten wood and confidently clarify it was part of an unimaginably colossal vessel, is beyond me.

Really quite pointless even if there is some way of knowing for sure that it is from Noah's Ark - the religious significance of that story is nothing to do with the actual structure of the vessel. If they found Moses' staff that'd be a different story because he had some fancy powers with that, whereas any piece of wood can float
