    Default Social Workers failing.

Just seen this on ITV news

Social workers monitoring a severely disabled girl who died after years of neglect by her parents were poorly trained and over-worked, according to a serious case review.

Charlotte Avenall accidentally hanged herself in her squalid bedroom where she was confined for up to 14 hours a day.

Her parents were jailed for child cruelty last month. An Ofsted inquiry said care provided by staff at Nottinghamshire County Council was "inadequate".
Social Workers knew something was wrong but failed to take action. They missed two visits.

If you seen the full story that was just shown, you'd see the state she lived in. The poor little 8 year old (who had a mind of a 3 year old) was left for hours alone during the day as it says in the article.

The parents are just disgraceful and I really get angered by this sort of behaviour.

If social workers knew something was wrong, why didn't they do something? These parents obviously haven't got the time to treat a disabled little helpless girl because the child's mother 'spent time looking after her pet lizard'.

I see this sort of news so much now it just gets unbearable to watch and I'd love to see the day where Social Workers take immediate action when they think something 'is wrong'.

I share your anger, i feel for the little kids who have done nothing wrong but been born into a uncaring, disgraceful family, and are overlooked by the government. Baby P....

While children such as Baby P should be protected (thats afterall the job of social services) it also must not become an issue where the government leans in on too heavily as it can result in kids being taken away from their parents unjustly for politically correct reasons (parents not approving of homosexuality and so forth).

My mum and I are approved foster carers, and the child we may be looking after for short term respite care has an idiot of a social worker. He doesn't get involved with him in the slightest, he actully knew nothing about him when we needed to know.

On the flipside, our social worker is awesome, she is usually the one that gets us everything we need to know and is always happy to help us with anything and has gave us so much of her time
