    Default My fear of heights...

    Hi

Im going to Blackpool Pleasure Beach tomorrow with college and all my mates are urging me to go on the Pepsi Max Big One with them. I mean, I can be a risk taker but this ride goes over 200ft and I don't know if i could 'man up' and go on the ride. i just get this thing of when a rollercoaster goes up on the chain i just think to myself "why am i going on this!?" because I think it everytime I go on Infusion. The going up part is a worry for me, but after that I think i could enjoy the ride. the other thing that seperates me from going on Infusion rather than The Big One is because on Infsuion you have like a billion bars, up, under and around your body so your completely safe. The Big One has a seatbelt and a bar, now that doesn't sound all to convincing for me with a ride with such height and that's what kinda puts me off (yeah it is safe, but doesnt seem safe enough for me). I can just imagine now being sat on the ride going up and i get freaked out.

Is there any way not to be so frightened of heights?

one of the best ways is confronting your fear, try thinking beforehand that nothing can happen to you and be rational and tell yourself to be rational and that your fear is irrational.

You can't really cure a phobia overnight, it usually takes weeks if not months and that's when it's done professionally So just channel your thoughts to be more rational, is all I can say.

You have to push yourself and go out your comfort zone, think of the immense fun while your on it and the embarrassment of not going on it when everything's going to be okay

as much as I want to go on it, I dont think I can.

    Overcoming a fear of heights:
The first step in overcoming a fear of heights is learning to control the physical symptoms. When faced with a threatening situation, taking slow, deep breaths can help slow the heart rate and increase the oxygen flow to muscles to keep from tensing up. If possible, a few minutes of meditation may be effective in relieving some tension. Relaxing music, aromatherapy, and even some stretching or light massage can help relieve the physical symptoms of a phobia.

    mhmm maybe.
