    Default HDD PVR?

I'm looking for a PVR with SD (HD even better) input and a HDD. I've tried a Hauppauge HD PVR but its just unreliable and I'd prefer something that doesn't need a computer.

    Thanks.

He may not have Sky or Virgin.

If I were you, I'd be building a small computer in a media center style case to put under the TV and use Windows Media Center on, it's far better than what you'll find in comparison to PVRs from people like Sony

Over here we need HD decoder boxes from the cable company to get HD programming, the boxes usually include a PVR. I have a Motorola PVR and I love it!!!! Call your cable company or you could import a TIVO PVR from America!
I'm at a point in my life where I don't care if you like me or you don't. If you like me, cool. If you don't, meh.

I have Virgin but I often watch TV on my laptop or iPod, but removing the HDD from the V+ box breaks the warrantee. Guessing there's not a (popular) product then?

If you have a PS3 you can buy play tv (I think so anyway, I'm sure its a screen recorder).

Yeah, that doesn't have any input except an aerial though, although for Freeview alone its a good choice.
