Default How much is your tax?

How much is everyone's car tax here? I just bought 6 months for my 1.2 Clio seeing as the tax runs out on the 31st of this month and it cost me £60.50. I had the option to buy a year's worth but that was £110.

These prices make the "eco" cars nowadays seem alot more attractive (Econetic Fiesta, Ecoflex Corsa etc) seeing as their tax is free...

I actually don't have to pay tax, I have to pay registration and it goes by weight in the state of New York. They tried to sell me a new, ugly, plate when I renewed it.. not cool

Our tax in the UK is based on how much Co2 your car outputs, so big petrol gulping 4x4s have to pay alot in tax. Whereas if your in an electric car, or a new eco car that a lot of makers are producing these days, you don't have to pay any tax because their Co2 output is below taxable level.

I don't understand why electric cars don't have any tax - most electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels.

It's because they produce no co2, they are powered by lithium ion batteries and therefore don't qualify to pay tax.

But to charge them, it'll produce co2 - unless it's renewable energy.
