Who's seen it? It came out last year but i wanted to know whos seen it

Yeah I've seen it. It's a great documentary, some of the things they do to get the cameras inside are amazing. It was quite the eye-opener even if it was a one sided argument.
Some of the things that Japan were doing to try to legalise whaling and I suppose justify the killing of the dolphins were outrageous. It's remarkable that the IWC let them get away with recruiting small, poorer countries solely so they can back them up for whaling issues.
It's good how the film is getting more recognition for what's happening in Taiji because it's obviously something which many people would feel passionate about, yet they just don't know what's going on. And there does seem to be evidence suggesting that it would be in Japan's interests to cover up the operation, considering the money they make from selling live dolphins as well as selling the meat as mislabelled whale meat.

It's a pretty upsetting movie but also a very powerful and harsh one.

It is a bit one sided as LoveToStack said, but they don't bash the people they're against, they show the video evidence, you see the fisher's reactions to cameras and it's all hard facts.

I don't look at the picture of me with a dolphin when I was little in the same way anymore.

Is that the documentary about dolphin killers? I became interested after watching a documentary about the Japanese controversy surrounding it, but they proved that a lot of if was fake. For example, there is a scene of a woman crying while apparently watching a dolphin getting killed or something like that, but eyewitnesses all said there was no dolphin and that she just started crying on the spot. Footage was spliced together to make it look real during editing, but really she is just an actor. They also got a lot of their facts wrong, stating that some people were fired after mistreating dolphins, but in the programme they contacted employers and checked the information, which was just plain wrong as the people were still in employment and were never fired at all. It is essential for a documentary to get its facts right. If I were to watch it now I just wouldn't be able to take it seriously knowing a lot of it is exaggerated.

I don't know if the programme covering the controversy is still being shown, but it was on the NHK World channel (Sky 516) if you want to check it out.

I don't think it would be my kind of documentary anyway. The Japanese eat dolphins and whales, so what? The Chinese eat dogs. We eat cows. The French eat frogs. Lets all make a documentary!
