    Default "International"

Now when I am writing this thread I do believe I will probably get shot down because it sounds like it is just something I want to moan about. I don't like moaning and I only do it when necessary because I know not every idea is a good one. This however, I think is fairly important and should be looked into a bit more closely.

Recently Sulake merged all English speaking Hotels (UK/US/AU/CA/SG) and previously we can safely say that Habbox was a Great Britain based hotel with international users (not on different Hotels?), so therefore members who were outside of it were classed as "International". I'm afraid to say that this hasn't changed much.

Someone may register onto the forum and see "International DJ applications - open!" They may be from Singapore. I have no idea how they know if they're international or not because the Hotels are merged. There is some logic which is being missed here and could actually make what could be good staff fly away. "International" isn't going to work anymore and will detract other people.

On this note, I think the Events Dept. still need to keep recruiting internationals. If there are some, where on Earth are they? Sure, there's been some in HxSS but what confuses me is that surely Events Organisers should be doing some at international times (prefrably people who aren't from the UK so they can actually sleep) but it's actually any other staff who are completing this role. The late/early morning times in BST need to get sorted ASAP, which needs to relate to my above paragraphs and even some of the UK side of things. In March or April, the Events Dept. were getting around 5 events a day which is phenomenal, you can barely top that but before HxSS there weren't any events for a few days, if so only 1 every 2 I think.

As I said, I'll probably get shot by people in this thread because they don't think it is a big deal but if I'm honest, it is and the word "international" just can't work anymore.

    Thanks.

Fully agree. We also need regular events after the HxSS, I posted regarding this before it. Events make a fansite more popular.

    Also Guests still see this:

Once registered you will also be able to take part in many competitions which are run by Habbox staff where you can win rares on Habbo UK, take part in many discussions and activities such as trading your furni on Habbo!

Events outside BST you mean because there are regular events otherwise?

I have to agree with you to be honest. I have seen problems with the Events Department thanks to HxSS, now I'm not sure if that's because half of them are away or its a big sign that we need more staff not only in our timezone but in International time zones also. In regards of checking someone is International or not, I suppose we could check their IP and see if it matches correctly with the place they say they are from. But normally you can tell if someone is not from the UK or not.

Yeah, yeah fair enough. My point being was just that they won't know what international actually is because it's actually not benefiting anyone, the public or Habbox really.

Agreed. You say you are an international fansite, but honestly, everything is orientated for UK people. I find that perfectly fine, but if you're going to open yourself up to international users, you have to change as well.

    UK Orientated still.

Edit: Don't know why you thought you were going to get shot down, this is 100% correct.

Well Roxy and four are on holiday and there has been three resignations lately so it is not going to be on full capacity but the point made was that there were no regular events and there are although maybe not so many a day as when everybody is here.

Yeah I'm afraid this is the thing. In July I think the majority of staff were here (including Roxy) but I can't say it improved by much. As a department, you should be striving for success and I think you're one of the few who has done an event during HxSS. What's the minimum limit now? Is it still 3? If so, I think it should be raised to 5 because that's 5 hours a month. If you were DJing, you need to do 3 hours a week (I think?) and they can manage it. 5 hours isn't that much and I know that when I was staff the majority of people were getting 7 or higher anyway (or absolutely fantastic ones like 15). In a 30 day month there are 720 hours, that surely isn't a problem.

I know I've moved on from International to Events but it is all linked.

I agree about events team, I was wondering where all the events were the couple of days before HxSS but as HxSS was close by (and we know how stressful that can be sometimes), I didn't really mind. Personally, I think Habbox are taking small steps at adapting for an international userbase with all the giveaways recently and various other things at international times. They are small steps admittedly but they're steps in the right direction at the very least. However, some steps aren't being taken as quickly as they could have been; that thing Saurav pointed out was spotted days after the merge and it's still not been done? We got to keep our eye on the ball!

That being said, I also think that everyone is maybe segregating international and UK a bit too much. International users will still come during UK times and throughout HxSS, there have been numerous Americans, Canadians, Australians (maybe not Singapore users tho) that have signed up to the forum because not of how things are worded in announcements but because it looks like a fun community.
