    Hey,
Just bought a few cds, I want to burn them to my laptop using windows media player. How can I get the best quality out of the cd? or will it automatically do this itself?

    Don't use Windows Media Player.

Use Exact Audio Copy or iTunes and rip them into 320kbps MP3 files with Variable Bit-Rate.

In Itunes how do I change what bit-rate it rips to?

    EDIT:
    Got it

Ripped it with wmp 320kbs mp3 then itunes 320kbs variable bit-rate & they sound the same quality

    Thanks

When you click on the CD on the left hand side and you get the track lists up you'll see an "Import Settings" button in the bottom right hand corner, click it and then use these options:

    Import Using: MP3 Encoder
    Setting: Custom...
    - Bit Rate: 320Kbps
    - Tick "Use Variable Bit Rate Encoding (VBR)
    - Quality: Highest
    - Sample Rate: Auto
    - Channels: Auto
    - Stereo Mode: Join Stereo
    - Smart Encoding unticked
    - Filter Frequencies Below 10 Hz ticked

And Stephen, FLAC is nice, but not very easy to copy to things x_x

    EAC - yes. 320Kbps isn't varibale bit-rate.

Personally I use V0. around 80% the file size and virtually indistinguishable from 320Kbps as the parts that need it are given that bit-rate anyway.

320kbps is a must for CD quality.
