Default cPanel - "[ipcheck] Problems with dns setup on android"

    Yo,

Not often I ask for a bit of help here but here goes.

cPanel doesn't seem to think it can resolve the server's hostname (android.socialee.me), this is the e-mail I get:

The hostname (android) resolves to . It should resolve to 67.23.224.92. Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by /etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly. Please check this file if you believe everything else is correct.

    You may be able to
automatically correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for your
hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager
    My resolv.conf is setup correctly:
    Code:
    root@android [~]# cat /etc/resolv.conf
    nameserver 8.8.8.8
    nameserver 8.8.4.4
    My /etc/hosts:
    Code:
    root@android [~]# cat /etc/hosts
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    # Auto-generated hostname. Please do not remove this comment.
    67.23.224.92 android android.socialee.me
And there is an A record for it.

Have you tried simply rebooting the server? Failing that, restart the named service. cPanel does have issues with conflicting (i.e. incorrect DNS zones) so you may want to get them checked out too.

I'd get rid of the host file entry, then add 127.0.0.1 as a nameserver in your resolv.conf

It's all set up fine. Just give cpanel some time to update. It's probably cached the entry before you added the A record.

I can sometimes get similar issues when I try looking up a name before I've added an entry for it.

I've been getting these emails for weeks, I wouldn't have thought it'd still be cached O_o

Can you tell I suck with DNS problems yet?

The DNS itself is fine. Must be to do with cpanel somewhere then. I don't have a clue about cpanel as I've never really used it.

Reinstall it and make sure your static or DHCP setting are correct in the OS itself.

    Simple reinstall may fix it.
