    Default can my dad tax my car

    hi ive just bought a car from an auction with mot til 7/11 however no tax. i dont have enough money to insure it just yet, but was wondering whether my dad could tax my car for me as he is insured on any car. or will i have to sorn it? thanks!

    Oh scrap that, if the car itself is not insured you can't tax it. I don't think.

    I think you will have to SORN it - I don't think you can tax it without insurance.

    mot
    insurance

    to be taxed

    if your dad is insured on it then yes he'll be able to buy a tax disc for it.

    you're dad's policy, although insured on ANY car.. does not mean he can drive your car, as the car he is driving has to have an independent policy on it for him to be able to drive it third party, it can also not be in his name. you might aswell wait until you can afford insurance, as you'll get another month or two tax out of it

    but on another note, anyone can tax your car if you've got insurance/mot, they don't have to be insured on it or even have a licence, just provide mot certificate and insurance policy.

    i'm the star in the reasonably priced car!
