    It depends what you are like for cash. If you are loaded and a couple of grand won't put a hole in your wallet then get the Mac. If you just want something that gets the job done then go for the PC. No point in breaking your bank when you can get something that does the same job for much cheaper. With Apple being a luxurious brand you are paying what's known as the "Apple tax". So if cash isn't an issue, definitely the Mac.

    I'm a big PC user, but recently I have invested in a Mac. I have been impressed with the Mac.

    hahah valid points. i am thinking about a mac regardless, because i know they're better in the long run (not getting virus' and such) plus im making my way up the ranks in becoming a professional photographer, so the editing program that comes with it would be awesome.

    To be fair, that depends how careless you are (with regards to viruses) and you could probably get a PC and waste money on photoshop and be better off than the Mac and the photo program that comes pre-packaged. Depends what photography you do though, if it's light touching up then you won't need alot, but if you're doing alot of heavy photo editing, then photoshop on either a Mac or a PC would be a wiser option.

    To be frank, both are complete ****.

    Get Windows, save a ton of money and don't buy into a cult. Done.

    But seriously, both are very similar nowadays, just use what you prefer, don't even listen to the guys above, go try Windows 7 out and try out Mac in stores, decide which you like best, ???, PROFIT!

    Typed from my MacBook remote desktop'd into my Windows 7 PC.

    You forgot to mention Linux in there somewhere, so for that reason your opinion is null and void

    Probably best to wait for this Mac event to be over and done with, to make a decision.

    Ahem, he meant DOS obviously, the best OS there ever was.

    Gaming = PC
    Media = Mac
    UI = Neither, they're both pretty good now
    General Web Browsing = Windows (Because why drop £1000 on a Macbook just to browse HxF when a £100 netbook will suffice for all web browsing needs)
    Photoshop = Neither, there's no difference, that's the point. Except windows will be cheaper.
    Best Design = Mac
    Price = Windows
    And that's all you ever need to know.

    Also, choosing Mac because of viruses is stupider than stupid. It has the worst security out of most OSs, it's always the first to be hacked at hacking conferences and currently has only security through obscurity. Soon macs will hit critical mass and people will write FAR more viruses for mac and because there's no Mac AV they'll be effective.
