    Taken for another ride by the warmists

    Polar piggyback: But this picture was taken by the charming Mrs Angela Plumb on a holiday in Spitsbergen more than four years ago, on July 21, 2006.

    Quote Originally Posted by Peter Hitchens

    This is propaganda garbage, just like the piffle talked about another famous picture of polar bears perched on a melting ice floe. That was taken in August, when ice in Alaska always melts. Land was close by. Polar bears can swim for hundreds of miles if they want to.

    The piggyback picture is just as misleading. It isn’t remotely new. I have established that it was taken by the charming Mrs Angela Plumb on a holiday in Spitsbergen more than four years ago, on July 21, 2006. It then formed the basis of a scientific paper written by the equally charming Jon Aars, a Norwegian polar bear expert. I have read this paper. It speculates that the cubs may ride on their mothers’ backs to avoid the cold water, as they don’t have the thick layer of blubber that allows adult bears to swim in icy temperatures for hours.

    But there’s no proof of this, as polar bears can’t speak English or Norwegian so cannot tell us why they do what they do. The paper accepts that bear cubs may always have done this. Jon Aars himself said to me that polar bear cubs have ridden on their mothers’ backs for ages. ‘What we do not know is whether or not it is happening more frequently than it used to,’ he says.

    So we don’t know. Once again the almost invariable rule applies. If any picture is produced to support the warmist panic, it will turn out to be suspect. Oh, and by the way, how much use have all those stupid windmills been during the cold snap?
    I saw the article he's talking about last week and I dismissed it as the usual warmist propaganda, but interesting little find here by Hitchens - I must ask though, does anybody really believe any of this garbage anymore? we spend well over £20bn+ a year directly on fighting global warming when temperatures have been falling for the last decade and this week I believe they [the political class] are all meeting in Cancun to agree to continue this great fraud, which is the most expensive fraud in human history.

    Of course this global warming scam hasn't just cost hundreds of billions, its also cost millions of lives in the poorest parts of the world - world food prices have doubled as a result of the biofuels scam which is just ridiculous (see below for a short video on how thousands of acres of land are being turned over for biofuel production);

    Interestingly enough the wife of David Camerom, Samatha Cameron - her father benefits from the wind turbine subsidy programme which is a direct policy result of the global warming scam. Makes you think, doesn't it?

    Thoughts?

    Global warming is a lie. Have said it since I was 6 or 7 I do not believe any of that ****.

    However please do not point fingers at Samantha Cameron as the windfarms have been in place several years before David was even Tory leader.

    SIEG HEIL! ICH BIN CAMERON! I know you are a supporter of the Conservative party but your CONSTANT failure to ever see ANYTHING wrong with ANYTHING Cameron does is really annoying me.

    I too don't really believe in global warming. Even if it was true, I'd much rather money was spent on the here and now (and on people) not wasted on something in the future as it's very unpredictable.

    The biggest joke in international politics since Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

    I see what cameron does wrong an yes he should stop spending money in this fraud but saying Samantha camerons father benefits from it is pointless because he has done for several years (when labour were in power)
