Default **** I dropped my iPod...

    In my bath ;l

It fell off the shelf. I got it out within 5 seconds but the screen instantly went and I've tried turning it on & off, I can faintly see it but it's not doing anything.

I've put it on the radiator to try off but I don't want it to be broken. My Dad will murder me (although it's still in warranty...) so yeah :S

Is there anything I can do so I don't have to tell my Dad? I'd rather not be yelled at. If the worst comes to the worst we'll take it to the apple store and get a new one because it's still in warranty but I know he won't be pleased and will lecture me on keeping my stuff safe ect.

So yeah...is there anything I can do? Or has the water permanently messed up the electronics? :/

Should I just let it dry naturally?

Do not try to turn it on and off anymore. I dropped my old phone in the bath and after about 3-5 days of it drying, it started working again.
Leave it somewhere warm to dry and you might be lucky.

It doesn't matter that it's in warranty, accidental/water damage isn't covered by the standard manufacturer warranty.

Wait until it is completely dry, if it's still broken make up some ******** of how it broke and claim on the warranty. Although, if they take a look inside it might be obvious you dropped it in water.

Just to add...there's a white bit showing in the corner..Idk if it's where the screen has been moved/damaged by the water?

It's a goner IMO, but leave it to dry for a week and see what happens.

Don't bother returning it under warranty, iPod Touches have water damage strips that change colour in them (there's one in the end of the headphone jack you should be able to see). Also, for future reference, don't try turning something on when it's been for a swim

Lol okay. I'm so dead if it's bust. My dad forked out £300+ for it and said if you break it you're not getting another one. Then we had to return it because it wasn't restoring and now this...ugh.

I'm quite knowledgeable with iPod Touchs and water damage at the moment so I might be of some help... Back in October I had my iPod Touch playing at a house party, it was rather messy you could say. When I woke up and found it, it was full of liquids and smelt of cider so clearly it was water-damaged, and like yours it wouldn't function at all.

What I then did is put it in the airing cupboard for a few days in hope that it would evaporate (Alcohol is very good at evaporating fortunately) and would function again. This however was not the case and it made no difference, you also must not keep turning it off/on like someone pointed out. It's worth a try anyway.

I then told my parents who were just like "lol its your fault". Took it to the Apple Store, it was in warranty and I was expecting to pay for an expensive repair to it as obviously the warranty doesn't cover water damage. I then explained to the "Genius" what happened, he took a look at it and then sifted through my Apple ID and then said for my honesty he would replace it free of charge as a "one off". This was also because he could see there was a number of Apple products assigned to my Apple ID and I'd never had any trouble before, so being a decent Apple customer is definitely in your favour.

So I suggest going into the Apple Store, explaining exactly what happened and be truthful, as you're a teenager they may have some sympathy for you too. Apple then might be kind enough to replace it free of charge, if not you'll probably have to pay for a costly repair but it's better than buying a brand new one at least. And sometimes in life you've just gotta take a bollocking for your actions, it was rather stupid taking an iPod anywhere near a bath

    best of luck.
