    Default New PC Build [Help]

    Hey,

Trying to build a PC for my sister, currently the build is about £600. I am trying to get it to £500 for her. She isn't a mad computer gamer - she only really goes on games like 'The Sims 3'.

I am pretty sure I have gone overkill on this build, but this is what I ended up with on a first attempt. Recommendations please to get it under £500

I am trying to make sure she can keep it working for many years.

    ---

Might just tell her to go with the original plan.. buy: http://www1.euro.dell.com/uk/en/home...=dhs&cs=ukdhs1 - the XPS 15

Don't forget you'll need to include Windows with that, I reckon that CPU is overkill too, go for a lower clocked i5/higher clocked i3.

1TB is relatively cheap nowadays, but will she *really* need it? 500GB perhaps might be a better option.

Not essential, but £40 isn't exactly expensive

    I changed the i5 to an i3 - price is now £512

If she ain't a gamer, then even something like this would be sufficient: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/198821
    And ram: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173122

Not including that in the budget

Trying to make it as cheap as possible - then will stick in £120 for a monitor.

    Current build:

I am happy to use AMD parts - just I don't know how AMD parts work/what is a decent part

    The cheaper the better.

If either of you are a student, get it for £40 from www.software4students.co.uk

If you add the student Windows onto that build you posted in your last post, she should be ready to go.
