Removal of attachment feature.

We are contemplating removing the attachment feature as habboxforum.com only allows the upload of image files. We feel it is not necessary for us to provide such a service with the number of free online image hosts available such as tinypic, imageshack, photobucket etc etc.

Our reasons for this is simple:

• Save bandwidth.
• Save load times.
• Save space.
• Speed up back ups.

Does anyone have any real objections against this? If so why?

Note: "It's nice to have it there" and comments along those lines which do not provide any real justification will not be considered.

Agree. There's other ways of showing what you'd attach and seeing as most attachments are images anyway, there's an image tool!!!!!!

It was needed in 2004, but we are 7 years ahead and with all these quick and easy upload sites now on the market, there seems to be no need what so ever.

It's little use is what has made it forgotten. I forgot about it until I saw someone made a thread regarding it.

It will be retained for Signature, avatar and profile pictures.

One problem could be with old, elite alt/picture threads. I think a few might of used the upload feature. Some used the old image host Habbox used to run so they were inevitably lost. Other than that, it is a bit pointless

I agree with removing this. It was pretty pointless and everyone used Tinypic etc though.

Perhaps instead you could get an upload image addon which uploads to Tinypic and automatically inserts the image in your post?

No issues with removing it - the current upload sites are sufficient, but yes a quick upload feature embedded into forum posts would be useful if it's easy to implement, and we should find way to preserve old attachments for elite alts etc. Perhaps just disable adding new ones but not delete the existing attachments?
