    Default PSU replacement under £35?

The family rig's PSU died. It wouldn't turn on, on Saturday morning, and I reseated the kettle lead, and it went with a bang.
It was an FSP 250W... specs are:
    Pentium 4 516 2.93Ghz
    Standard AVC cooler
    Asus P5S800-VM (24-pin + 4-pin)
    2GB DDR333
    160GB Seagate IDE
    NEC DVD-RW IDE
    BFG 7600GS (takes one Molex)

I am aware there is a chance the components are also dead, but I'm hoping for the best.
I need a new PSU for it, and fast. This is the main family PC, it's essential.
I've been looking at the Corsair CX430, http://store.cbccomputers.com/produc...=CMPSU-430CXUK I know it's not one of the usual sites but I've bought from there before, plus I can get it for £30 delivered there. Will this be a suitable PSU for this rig? Can anyone recommend a better PSU for under £35 delivered?

I read that the Corsair CX430 was actually more of a 350w PSU is stress tests. But if you don't plan on upgrading the rig then it will be perfect.

The last upgrade was the 7600GS, and that was a good 3 years ago.

The only thing I might do is swap the IDE ODD for a SATA one, as the IDE one is slowly dying.

    Thanks for the advice.

Trust me, it took enough persuading to get them to buy one this expensive...

It's a 6 year old rig. They don't want to spend megabucks on it...

Yes, the 12v isn't brilliant, but it's a highly commended PSU in reviews, and all I want to know is will it work and not blow up. if it does that, it works better than the last PSU.

Spend no more than £20 on it.

Who cares if a P4 goes bang?

When it's the main machine in the household, and I lose my laptop until it's fixed (they have to use something)... I care.

Will that CX430 work and not kill the rig?

    Yes, but it is overkill.

That's good. I might be adding another HDD soon, plus they want to use this when they eventually upgrade (this was a Packard Bell, they want me to build their next one next year)

Quickly, I've just looked on Scan's deals, I can get a Coolermaster Elite 500W for £30 from Scan, will this be better?
