Default Ethernet Bridge with DD-WRT - Router bricked

I have a D-Link DIR-615 router running DD-WRT, and I've been trying to configure it as a wireless bridge for the other side of the house.

Our network consists of a VM Hub (router/modem), which links via Ethernet to a Belkin router (for 802.11g - dad's laptop is the only PC that won't pick up the Virgin network). All devices go through the Belkin.

I wanted it set up so that the DIR-615 went into my workshop, wirelessly linked to the VM Hub, and the D-Link then would connect Ethernet devices (specifically a ThinkPad X31 with a dead wifi card and a Tiny desktop, both running Ubuntu 10.04).

So I followed a guide on how to do this, and it didn't work. It got a WAN IP from the VM Hub, but wouldn't connect to the internet.

So I reset, and tried again. Same problem. Reset, try again. This time, no WAN IP. Reset, try again. This time, I can't get into the router. The computer (configuring it from the Tiny) connects, but 192.168.1.1 (default DD-WRT IP) does not work. Nothing does. The router is inaccessible, even after resetting to factory settings (I tried repeatedly).

Is it bricked, and is there another guide out there that works? This D-Link isn't very old, will they let me RMA it (bought off eBay, so would rather RMA with D-Link if possible)?

Is your VM Hub IP the same as the D-Link one per chance?

Nope. VM Hub IP is 192.168.0.1

D-Link was 192.168.1.1. At one point it was 192.168.0.100, but I have reset it since then, so the default is 192.168.1.1.

I did try a 30/30/30 but I wasn't counting it, so it may not have worked properly. I'll try it tomorrow (the router is in my workshop/shed, and I've just locked up)

Tried another 30/30/30 and I'm back in.

Right, I'd appreciate network help now

The network goes: VM Hub (192.168.0.1) - ethernet connection to Belkin. (192.168.2.1)
I want to wirelessly link the VM Hub and the D-Link (192.168.1.1), and use the LAN ports on the D-Link.
I followed this tutorial down to the letter. At least 5 times, this morning alone.
    http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials...ess-Bridge.htm
It just won't work. I can't get a WAN IP on the D-Link...
    Any ideas?

I've got it working after following a youtube tutorial. I'd missed a couple of bits I think

But now, the speed is too slow to be usable.
I know running a repeater bridge cuts bandwidth in half. That should mean about 4.5Mbps... not 0.05Mbps which is what I frequently get.
Belkin is running full speed, no issues. So does the VM Hub when the D-Link is unplugged.
    Any suggestions regarding that?
