I have my Galaxy S, how would I root it.

When/if I root it, what different stuff would I be able to do.

I recommend rooting and installing the CyanogenMOD 7 ROM

This forum contains loads of useful information: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=656 - the Android Development section contains all the ROMs. Basically, rooting will allow you to install custom stuff, and always have the latest operating system (well, as good as). For example, my Milestone has only just officially been given Android 2.2, however I am running Android 2.3.3 - thanks to CyanogenMOD. ROM's often have extra features and stuff, however the biggest thing imo is having the latest Android version.

Also, rooting allows 'Apps2SD' - meaning you can free up space on your phone, by storing apps on your SD card (although, doesn't the galaxy have loads of space anyway?)

For a list of reasons to root, check here: http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/...droid-phone-2/

I have overclocked my Milestone (very easy to do ) from about 600mhz, to 1000mhz (1ghz).

Many advantages Sign up to xda-developers - they are really helpful - there is also an app for the forum on the android market!
