    Default Touchpad left key?

The right key is clicky as usual, the left however has gone like it still works but doesn't click down really... at all?

This is kinda like my left key.

The right one is fine and it's a proper button but my left one kinda moves from side to side. It still works and all so I think it's just whatever stops it from moving has broken. It doesn't drop off or anything so it's not too bad

    In a word.. no.

Without sending it back you'll have a tough time, generally trackpads are pretty difficult to get hold of and then just as difficult to install unless Compaq laptops are built like a Dell or a MacBook

Well you could check if there's any crumbs, by shaking it upside down. If there isn't make sure there isn't any sticky substances by wiping a corner of a tissue into the gaps.

My HP dv6 did this. So did the Acer 9300 before it. So does my other Toshiba Satellite Pro L300. So did the Acer Travelmate 290 before that. So does my father's Fujitsu Amilo D1845.

They do go like that after about 6 months, I find.

That's an overlypriced huge trackpad made by Apple. He means a 'normal' trackpad at the front of his laptop...
