DVDs

I want to burn a few movies onto DVDs, but what format thing (DVD-R etc) should I use?

I want it to play on laptops, dvd player and PS3, cheers.

Dvd+r and dvd-r. ISO or IMG are the best option as they burn straight onto the disc. where as avi/mkv need converting with applications such as Nero or Convertxtodvd (Personally use this)

DVD-R for max compatibility, but any modern device should be fine with any.
